While we have divided Anchorage into different sections, it is important to note that everything is close within Anchorage. Anchorage is Alaska’s largest city and has all the amenities of living in a city, yet it is a city where it is easy to get from one place to another within 20 minutes by car.
University of Alaska Anchorage and Alaska Pacific University (APU), a small , private, liberal arts school are located next to each other and share a new library complex. Charter College is also in midtown.
Providence Hospital is just across the street from University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA). The Alaska Native Medical Center is close to UAA, APU and Providence Hospital. Alaska Regional Hospital is also located in midtown.
Midtown Anchorage shopping centers include University Center, the Mall at Sears, Costco, and Wal-Mart. Alaska Wildberry Products are produced in this part of Anchorage and is home of a very large chocolate “water”-fall.
